Site check Carried out with you before dispatch. Required on every order.

1. Before we dispatch: the site check

Every order includes a site check. It takes about ten minutes and it happens before anything leaves the warehouse.

We will ask you for photographs of:

  • Where the unit is going
  • The base it will sit on
  • The access route from the road, including gateways, steps, slopes and overhanging branches
  • Your consumer unit

This is the single most useful thing we do. Nearly every failed installation comes down to a base that isn't ready or access that's too tight, and both are solvable a week beforehand and expensive on the day.

2. Your responsibilities before delivery

The base. Level, load bearing, and sized for the unit. Concrete, paving slabs or a properly constructed deck. We confirm the exact requirement for your model in writing after the site check. We do not carry out groundwork.

The electrical supply. Most units need a dedicated supply from your consumer unit, installed by a qualified electrician and terminated at the unit position. We confirm the exact rating for your model in writing. Do not order cable or book an electrician until you have that confirmation from us.

Access. Our units arrive on a pallet and are heavy. You must confirm the delivery vehicle can reach your property and that there is a route to the final position.

Someone on site. An adult must be present for both delivery and installation.

3. Delivery only

Dispatched within 7 days of your order being confirmed.

Delivery is kerbside. The unit is unloaded to the nearest safe hard standing at your property. Moving it from there to its final position is your responsibility. Plan for several people, or arrange plant.

You will be contacted to arrange a delivery day, and given a time window the day before.

4. Delivery with installation

Installation dates are booked around your availability and our installation calendar. Typical lead time is 1 to 4 weeks, depending on location and how busy the diary is.

On the day, our team will position and assemble the unit, connect it to the supply your electrician has provided, test it, and walk you through operation and maintenance.

We install the unit. We do not run the electrical supply to it. That work must already be complete and certified by your electrician.

5. Changes and failed visits

If we need to move your date, we will tell you as soon as we know and offer the next available slot at no cost.

If you need to move your date, please give us as much notice as you can.

If our team attends and cannot complete the work because the site is not ready as agreed at the site check, a re-visit charge applies to cover the wasted visit. We will tell you the amount before booking the return date. This is why the site check matters.

6. Where we deliver

Mainland UK, including Scotland and Wales.

We do not deliver to Northern Ireland.

Surcharges apply to the Scottish highlands, Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Isles of Scilly and other remote postcodes. If your postcode is affected we will confirm the additional cost in writing before your order is confirmed, and you are free to cancel at that point for a full refund.

7. When it arrives

Please check the unit and its packaging before the delivery team leaves, and photograph anything that looks wrong.

Report any transit damage within 48 hours to support@coldhutrecovery.com with your order number and photographs. We will repair or replace at no cost to you.

Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes once payment has cleared in full.

8. Delays outside our control

Delivery dates are estimates. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, transport disruption, port delays and supplier failure.

Where a delay is our fault and is significant, you may cancel and receive a full refund.

9. Cancelling and returning

Covered in our Returns, Cancellations and Refunds policy. Note that if you ask us to install within the 14 day cancellation period, you will need to confirm this in writing, and different rules apply if you then cancel.
